VIKINGS FEATURES WORLD STREET FOODS
Filipinos typically love street foods. It is not just because they are cheap. It is because of the satisfying taste of it that Filipinos crave for. I could remember street carts swarmed with people, mostly students, outside our school. That is how we love it! There are a lot of street foods here in Philippines: fried isaw, kwek kwek, and fish ball, to name a few.

- ESPETINHO (Origin: Brazil)
Espetinho is a Portuguese word which means "little skewer". It is what Brazilians use to describe kebab. Spiced beef and chicken are the most common types of skewers. Other varieties of skewers are made of shrimps, cubed fish, hot dogs, sausages and a Brazilian cheese called queijo coalho.
You can judge this by its look. It is saucy and meaty. The meat is tender and soft. I love its taste and the sauce that comes with it.

Roujiamo means meat burger or meat sandwich. It originated from Shaanxi Province and now widely consumed all over China. The meat is most commonly pork. It is stewed for hours in a soup containing 20 spices and seasonings.
On my first bite, I found the bread a bit firm. Nonetheless, the pork inside it is tasty.

It is a dish developed in Central Mexico. It is the result of the adoption of the shawarma spit-grilled meat brought by Lebanese immigrants. It is also similar to the Turkish doner kebab and the Greek gyros. Shawarma is usually lamb-based. While Tacos Al Pastor is made of thin strips of pork. The pork is marinated in spices and chilles. Afterwards, it is stacked onto a long spit called trompo.
This is gotta be one of my favorites! It was love at first bite. The spices did not overpower the taste of the meat.

Suppli is an Italian word for surprise. It consists of a ball of rice called risotto. The other ingredients are tomato sauce and raw egg. Originally, they were filled with chicken giblets, mozzarella and mincemeat or provatura. The whole morsel is soaked in egg and coated with bread crumbs. This is a native Roman dish from the region of Lazio, Italy.

Pork Satay is a dish of seasoned, skewered and grilled meat. It is served with a sauce. It may consist of diced or sliced chicken, goat, mutton, beef, pork, fish, other meats, or tofu. The authentic version uses skewers from the midrib of the coconut palm frond. These are barbecued over a wood or charcoal fire. Satay is served with variety of spicy seasonings. It originated in Java, Indonesia.
I thought this is just an ordinary barbecue. But it is not. The meat is full of flavors. Plus the sauce that comes with it has a mixture taste of curry and the Filipino dish Kare-kare.

Jerk is a native style of cooking in Jamaica. Meat is dry-rubbed or wet marinated with a very hot spice mixture called Jamaican jerk spice. Jerk seasoning is traditionally applied to pork and chicken. It relies upon two spices called Jamaican pimento and Scotch bonnet peppers.
This is also a dish that you might mistakenly think as plain and ordinary. I expected it to taste like a Filipino dish. Boy I was wrong. It has a distinct taste that makes you feel you are in Jamaica. Its taste is different from the Filipino palette.

Gyoza are dumplings filled with ground meat and vegetables. It is a popular known dish which is also called as pot stickers. It may consist of ground pork, nira chives, green onion, cabbage, ginger, garlic, soy sauce and sesame oil. I certainly enjoy Japanese food ever since my mom introduced it to me. Gyoza is now one of my list of favorites.

Durum is a wrap that is filled with typical doner kebab ingredients. The wrap is made from lavash or yufka flatbreads.For me, this is good as meal. It is big enough to make you full. You will have fun discovering different flavors while eating it.
